An antique Victorian Staffordshire salt glazed stoneware relief moulded \'apostle\' jug by Charles Meigh of Hanley, complete with it\'s original hinged pewter lid.The handcrafted conforming pewter lid has a domed center detail and is hinged open via a trefoil motif handle.
The pitcher is decorated with 8 apostle figures around the octagonal body and handle with relief molded Gothic scene. This \'apostle\' jug, in the Gothic style, is one of the most iconic and successful of relief-moulded jug designs and depicts figures in architectural niches.Approx 8 1/4\" tall maximum inc. lid.
