Invented by Maurice Berger in 1898, Lampe Berger is a fragrance lamp that destroys odors and bacteria by burning an alcohol-based fuel using a catalytic burner. It was sold to hospitals and mortuaries, where hygiene was very important. In 1927, Maurice Berger sold the company to Jean-JacquesFailot. Failot changed the fuel to ethyl alcohol, giving it the scent of apples. Suddenly, it could be marketed to the consumer market as a home fragrance. He began collaborating with some of the great bottle designers of the time, such as Galle, Lalique and Baccarat, making Lampe Berger a huge success.
Lampe Berger Fragrance Lamp Usage Instructions and Tips
- Fill your fragrance lamp with your favorite fragrance oil. Make sure to not overfill the lamp. Lampe Bergerrecommends that you fill your lamp to a maximum of 2/3 full. We find that about1/2 full works best.
- Insert your catalytic burner and wick securely into your fragrance lamp. If this is your burner\'s first use, let the wick soak up the fragrance oil for about 20 minutes before lighting your lamp.
- Light the catalytic burner and let the flame burn for about 2 minutes.
- Blow out the flame and put the open protective top (crown) on your fragrance lamp. The average size room only requires about 20 minutes of use.
- When finished, remove the open protective top and place the stopper cap (sniffer) on the catalytic burner to extinguish your fragrance lamp. Be careful, the catalytic burner will be hot. Put the protective top (crown) back on and it\'s ready for the next use!
