“USS Neptune Lignum Vitae” Wood Block W/ Brass Whale Commemorative Item See Note For Sale

Please note, I do not know the specific provenance or backstory of this item since it was purchased secondhand, so I am only attesting to its visible features. Item measures roughly 6 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 1.25 inches thick (from top of the brass to bottom of the felt). It features a brass whale medallion mounted onto a block of wood. The plaque on the side reads “USS Neptune Lignum Vitae”. There are dings/dents and scratches on the metal mounted plaque. There is some tarnish/patina and small spots of oxidation on the brass. The wood portion of the item has some cracks and splitting. The bottom underside of the item is lined with felt. Some portions of the felt are loose and in the process of peeling off. There are some pieces of the wood chipped off on corner edges.
