This doll is Max of Max & Moritz, originally from Wilhelm Busch\'s 1871 story, later as Katzenjammer Kids, a very cute googly character dollon a multi jointed wood or composition body. The body and clothing look very old, the clothing may be antique and has faded. The jacket and shorts are lined, the socks have holes at the tops, and shoes are oldrubber with string ties and some splits. I believe it\'s a reproduction because thebisque is tinted on the inside, there are no other marks, just the original mold marks.A very rare mold no. 123dolls recently sold at Theriault\'s sale house for $26,000.This little guy is the next best thing, unfortunately he is alone without Moritz.Nice 11\" cabinet size, brown set glass eyes, painted features, mischievous. Thanks for looking!
