15 Separate Photos from 1964 of the Allis-Chalmers Factory Shop Floor - No. 6 / 4 Shop #23230.
We are presentinga series of vintage photographs of the factory shop floors at the Allis-Chalmers plants at West Allis, Illinois.These photos were taken in March and April of 1964, from cranes and catwalks. The images of the erecting shop were taken with a Rollei twin-lens reflex camera and printed from 2-1/4 x 2-1/4 negatives. All the rest were taken on 8 x 10 sheet film. I cannot imagine hauling an 8x10 view camera up on a transverse crane and setting up for downwardshots.
The titles oneach photograph are typewritten on paper and glued onto the picture. We’ve made no effort to remove them. To do so wouldprobably mean soaking the pieces to remove the name tags and drum-drying tomaintain the gloss.
