1811, first edition. 8.5\" x 5.5\" with 221 numbered pages. American Edition--Volume 1 only of a 3 volume set, the English edition was published with either four or five volumes. This first American edition seems to be much harder to find, as there is only one complete set available currently (priced at $35,000!), or a few English edition sets from 1500+.
Good condition. Bound in full leather that still looks pretty good for age, and has both covers still firmly attached. Binding is tight and square, pages spotted/foxed throughout. First and last end blank papers have a torn corner on both. Book gifted to St. Mary\'s High School Library which later (c1880s/90s) evolved into Marylhurst College that sadly closed in 2018 after over 100 years. Leather scuffed and worn, but still presents nicely; overall good condition for being over 200 years old!
This volume is a text volume only, plates and folding map are in volume 3, but his book does have many charts and diagrams.
