- Rare in any edition, this third printing published Nov 1904, only two months after the first appearance in Sept publisher\'s red cloth with titles in gilt
- Boards moderately worn and soiled but cloth still very good, gilt still bright including gilt panels
- Corners/edges rubbed with a noticeable spot of heavy wear/abrasion to edge of both boards along text block (see photos)
- Spine tips rubbed, some light fraying including along bottom edge near joint
- Joints lightly worn but not fragile
- Binding very good
- Paper along both hinges starting to tear but binding unbroken
- Edges foxed
- POS and markings in ink to ffep, previous owner bookplate to half-title
- Preliminaries moderately foxed
- Frontis illustration with original tissue guard detached but in place
- Frontis and title page moderately foxed
- Contents generally clean, occasional light foxing and uniform light toning but otherwise very good
- Numerous illustrations throughout (title page refers to 138 illustrations - not collated but nothing appears missing)
- Extensive publisher adverts at rear
