1915 PPIE PANAMA-PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION MEDAL - PEERLESS CHECK WRITERS For Sale

This medal (token or fob) is a souvenir ofthe 1915 World\'s Fair in San Francisco, the Panama-Pacific International Exposition (PPIE), andit was an advertising souvenir from the Rochester, New York, company that manufactured Peerless Check Writers. The front side has a female figure of Liberty standing atop a world globe (similar to statues at the Court of the Universe building at the Fair), with what appears to be a Chinese junk (junque) on the left and a western ship on the right. The name of the Fair, the year 1915, and SAN FRANCISCO are found along the rim. Along the rim of the other side are the words PEERLESS CHECK WRITERS ROCHESTER, N. Y. THE GOLD MEDAL PROTECTION. In the center of this side is an image of a Peerless Check Writer. The name of the manufacturer (Greenduck, Chicago) is found at the bottom rim. This medal was struck very well, with very good detail and bold lettering. There is no mark for metal content, but this medal appears to be composed of brass or bronze, and it was holed (as typical for this item) for use as a fob. This medal measures approximately 31 mm (nearly 1-1/4\") in diameter, and it has a reeded (milled) edge (like a U. S. dime).

The item is in very fine condition, with relatively light wear, toning, and limited soiling, and it is bright.
