Siren Fire Chief Cat: 1934. This car comes in four versions,all of which have sirens.
Firstversion: This car, which sold for 89 cents in the 1934 Sears catalog, has afriction motor and a lever to start and stop the siren, plus a 23” detachablewood handle which can push or pull the toy. The car with out the handle wasprobably produced a year earlier. “Siren Fir Chief” is on the door and “FireDept” on the hood. 175-400
SecondVersion: This version has electric lights and is a windup. The car has thestandard six rectangles on the hood plus “Fire Dept # 1”. The black wheels donot have the same holes in the silver centers as does the G-Man car. “Siren Fire Chief” and a fireman’s hatare on the door. “1St Batt” in front of the door. Close to the rearfender “F.D.” Advertisements state that this car could run either in a circleor straight ahead. 175-400
ThirdVersion: The car only has “Siren Fire Chief” and not the fireman’s hat on the door.This car is windup only and does not have electric lights. The wheels aresimilar to those on the G-Man Pursuit Car. This version has different designsof embossed stripes on the hood.175-400
FourthVersion: This car is like the third version, but it has electric lights. 175-400
In 1933 a very similar car was sold by Girard although itwas advertised under the Marx name. Possibly, this car was sold under theGirard name as well. This car has “Fire Chief Siren Coupe” on the door and asimilar fireman’s hat”. The Girard car has battery-powered head and taillights,a siren, and the same wheels as the G-Man Pursuit car. The slanting narrowshapes on the hood are different from the others.
In 2008 “Grandoldtoys.com sold the third version for2027.00, it was absolutely Mint in the box. class=\"MsoNormal\">
The Siren Fire Chief car for sale today is the THIRD VERSION. It winds up very easily and will roll across your hard wood floors with out a struggle. The siren in no longer functioning, instead it sounds more like a garbage disposal. Please take a look at the pictures, they are the visual description of this toy. This toy is 14 inches long and made out of heavy gauge steel. Its very impressive and heavy duty. It comes with the original box but the are no flaps. I think the box was made in two parts, a sleeve and then a inner portion that would slide out. If correct the portion I have is the outer portion, it is clearly labels \"Siren Fire Chief Car\" \"Marx\" toys
