1959 Topps #442 Ray Narleski Detroit Tigers PSA 7 NM NEAR-MINT
This is a High-end PSA 7 Ray Narleski card with nice corners, straight edges, and centering measuring 45/55 (L-R) in a clean, clear slab.
Nice centering
Narleski signed with the Indians in ‘48 as a nineteen year old hurler. He spent a year in the minors, and left the game before his second year. He returned and eventually the Indians called him up in ‘54, and in ‘55 he hit his stride and led the league in appearances (60), and saves (19), and finished the year with a 9-1 won lost record. He had another good year to follow and he worked himself into the rotation and into the All Star game. He put in a second All Star appearance in ‘58. The Indians sent him to Detroit in ‘59 but shoulder and a disk problem in his back convinced him to retire at the age of 30, not willing to spend a year in the minors, after not being assured a roster spot in the majors.
