1967 Guild F-47 Sunburst with OHSC - Hoboken made, VG cond. and rare:
$1900.00

Up for sale is a gorgeous vintage, Guild F47 acoustic from 1967 in very good to excellent condition. This is a 16’ small jumbo guitar built by Guild in 1967 in Hoboken New Jersey. The F-47 is sometimes referred to as the F-47 Bluegrass model and replaced the F-40 Buegrass which had an odd pickguard. Constructed of a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, ebony fretboard and bridge. She is tastefully appointed with Ivoroid block inlays, white binding on the fretboard, top and back, b-w-b-w purfling, and concentric soundhole rosette. Additionally, she has the large tortoise pickguard, and the inlaid Guild Chesterfield logo used in those days. Lastly, she has a beautiful sunburst finish. The label lists this as an F-47; following the model are designations that I can\'t quite make out; I believe the 1st is \'sb\' for \'sunburst\', but following that I can\'t make it out. Possibly \'jubilee\'? All braces are solid and structurally sound. I placed a cleat under a small crack in the center seam of the top; right at the soundhole edge. The center seam has a finish crack along it\'s length, the two book-matched halves of the top itself are solid, and the crack does not travel through to the seam itself. She has been set up with a new nut made of Corian, new bridge pins to match the ebony bridge (original saddle and pins will be included in the case), a fresh set of Martin PB lights (.12 - .54), and a truss rod adjustment to set the relief to just a little shy of dead flat. The action is a \'medium low\' at just a little under 8/64ths at the 12th fret. There is nice break-angle over the saddle, and room at the saddle to lower further if desired. There is no string buzzing or fret-out.The only detrimental item of note is the end-pin; she must have been fitted with a sound-hole pickup at some time, ad there is an endpin jack installed, with a white endpin inserted in the 1/4\" jack-hole. There is no wiring remaining on the interior, and the endpin is secure in the jack-hole.Cosmetically, she has aged very well; and has the odd character mark you\'d expect from a 50+ year-old guitar. There are some light scratches from normal usage/play, a few minor nicks through to the wood on the top, a small area of finish wear near the edge of the back at the bass side upper bout, and a few finish wear marks on the neck opposite the 1st and 2nd chord positions. There is some light finish checking throughout. The case likewise is in excellent condition, with all latches and hinges functioning properly. There is a spring hinged lock (no key), and the blue crushed velvet interior is pristine, with no tears or threadbare spots.Somewhere in between a Jumbo and a dreadnought guitar, the mahogany back and sides, with the solid spruce top produce a very clear and articulate, yet sweet and balanced sound. The long scale and deep body produce a remarkably loud instrument, and makes this F-47 a very versatile instrument. I play finger-style and medium attach strumming, and she responds beautifully, with surprisingly deep bass, clean, articulate midrange, and clear trebles.Although I am sure you\'ll be pleased with this guitar, this is an as-is sale, with no refunds or returns unless I have mis-stated or misrepresented something significant. All photos are hi-res, and are considered part of the description.
Though it should go without saying, in the interest of perfect clarity I will state here so there are no misunderstandings or unreasonable expectations: the action and playability notes or measurements provided here are set to my tastes and preferences. The guitar is eminently playable as is, however, your preferences may differ, and/or you wish to adjust to your tastes and preferences. Buyer must be aware that any post purchase adjustments will be their responsibility. Please check my response and offer with confidence; I have sold many guitars, and always take great care to describe any repairs, flaws, or issues clearly and thoroughly. My response speaks to my honesty and thoroughness; no surprises or dissatisfied customers (please see note below on my one negative response rating). I always pack professionally and securely, and ship insured at my expense in a true, sturdy guitar shipping carton. Shipping to the continental US is FREE with Buy-It-Now, otherwise is a flat $45. I will ship internationally for additional shipping and handling, but will have to calculate based on buyer\'s location. If you opt for the Buy-It-Now purchase, or are an international buyer, please wait for me to invoice you before submitting payment. The guitar will be shipped withing 2 days of payment.

A note on my one negative response; it was posted by a buyer who opened a return case with the express intent of extorting a partial refund from me. He refused to close the case, even after he had already listed and re-sold the guitar I sold him! , in their infinite wisdom refuses to remove the negative response he left me, and only provides 80 characters for me to refute it in my \'response response\', which is why I am taking the time to do so here in all future listings. I will be happy to answer any questions about the buyer\'s claim, my experience with the buyer (and ) in trying to resolve this issue. Needless to say, I would recommend any seller think twice before accepting a offer from the buyer listed in the response, but , again in their infinite wisdom, prohibits my mentioning the name here directly.
