1995 Rachel Bishop 12\" Flared Top Tribute Vase Moorcroft \"Macintosh Range\" This gorgeous first quality Moorcroft 12\" vase (5\" diameter of flared top graduated to 3.5\"diameter base) was designed by Rachel Bishop, Moorcroft\'s only fourth designer in 100 years, as a tribute to Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is free from any chips, cracks or restoration--a truly beautiful piece in mint condition. It is dated 1995 and has a complete set of Moorcroft backstamps and marks (see photographs) including both impressed marks and the \"WM\" paint mark of William John Moorcroft. Rachel’s initial designs sold well and individual success was followed by the Moorcroft centenary in 1997. This \"Macintosh Range\" pattern features nostalgic Glasgow roses in rose on a cream and dark blue background with tubing. The Rachel Bishop story began when she was alerted by her grandmother to vacancies in Moorcroft for people \"who could both paint and draw.\"It is said that at Ms. Bishop\'s interview, there was a huge and positive reaction the moment her design portfolio was opened. However, Moorcroft was not looking for a designer but a painter, and Rachel was rejected; but, Moorcroft’s chairman, Hugh Edwards, decided to stay in touch.They corresponded for almost a year and when the old Moorcroft design team left without warning in December 1992, he contacted the budding designer again. In a little over three years following the launch of her new Tigris design in 1993, Moorcroft’s sales doubled, and a new design star was born. The artist believes “she was born to the job.”
