The estate owner\'s claims this 19th Century Pack Horse / Mule Saddle was used to carry Artillery parts for a Gatling Gun. I was able to find out some info on the maker A.D.Goetz Co who mfg\'d Harness, Collars and Saddlery during the 19th Century in Charlestown West Virginia. They made a variety of items including many Military and Mining accessories. This one measures 17\" x 24\" and it is still in very good condition.Some of the stitching on the straw filled leather pads is worn but they are still held together nice and tight. And the front side is missing two of the 1 1/4\" dia copper medallions ( one on each side ) But that\'s really it. The arched wood frame and leather are still in excellent shape.Each side of the frame is clearly marked A.D.Goetz Co. Total weight 30 lbs. ~~Starting the sale off with for this great piece of Americana!
