It has been in my collection for 25+ years. This is the Confederate version of the Union 20# Parrot shell. This is what is called a 20 pounder Confederate Tall Read Shell. This tall version is rarer then normal. It does not have a fuse present, but has the lathe dimple on the bottom.It also has the lathe dog marking on top of the shell. It is faded and not protruding. I have hardly ever seen thesecome up for sale for less then $500. It\'s verbal history is that it was found inin the Petersburg Battlefield area on private property!
