Collaborating with the UnitedStates Mint, we have formed a groundbreaking partnership in which GordonSummers and Joseph Menna, the Chief Engravers of each of these mints, havecollaborated on a coin design together for the first time.
The masterfully crafted designunites the national symbols of Britannia and Liberty, a physical representationof the ‘special relationship’ – a phrase coined by Sir Winston Churchill in1946 – shared between the United Kingdom and the United States.
Inspired by the concept ofcourt cards, Britannia and Liberty share equal prominence in this masterfullycrafted design that represents the skill and experience of each Chief Engraver.The figures also represent fortitude and freedom, virtues that underpin thenational identities of both the UK and the US.
