Introduced in 1986, the popular and now-iconic AmericanEagle Silver Coins are collector versions of the official United StatesMint American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. These popular silver collectibles arestruck at the West Point Mint and have the “W” mint mark.
The classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinmanfeatured on the coin’s obverse (heads) has long been a collector favorite. Itdepicts Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her righthand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. Refreshed in 2021,thanks to technological advancements in the design and minting process, it nowencompasses some of Weinman’s original details that were not previouslypossible. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “2024,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse (tails) design features an eagle as itapproaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest.Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINESILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
The coins’ added security features include a reeded edgevariation.
Each coin bears the “W” mint mark reflecting its striking at the West Point.
