Up for sale is a lovely, antique, french, exterior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door has a solid Birch core covered with 1/4" Birch veneers and features beveled glass lites. Please don\'t think that "veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture, these veneers are 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door was stripped, but not completely. It needs a few more hours of stripping before it could be ready to stain. Otherwise, if you are looking to paint the door, it is ready to go. Unfortunately, one of the glass lites is missing. However, we could order a new glass lite (i.e beveled, tempered, leaded, stained etc.) and install it, --Email us for a quote.Although this is an exterior door, it can also be used as an interior door.Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door (check out our store).
* If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood, please email us for a quote.
Condition:
On the interior side of the door, the top and middle hinge mortises are chipped; and molding is missing from the window with no glass.
Otherwise, this door is in very good shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes--minor cosmetic blemishes, which would be removed during the finishing process or covered if painted.Quirks & Considerations: The height of the door was unevenly cut by approx. 1/4" at some point, most likely to accommodate for a warped floor or settling foundation. We could make the height even, --Email us for a quote.
Refinish/Repaint:We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish.See the last photos in this sale as an example of our work.Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we\'ll give you a quote.
Swing: The door is currently set up to swing inwards, towards the Right. However, we can modify the door to swing in the opposite direction. --Email us for a quote.
Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, make molding, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we\'ll give you a quote.
