Elegant, antique, French door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio.  It has a solid oak core covered with 1/16" birch veneers.Please don\'t think that \"veneer\" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture, these veneers are 1/16\" thick and provide strength and stability to the door.  Oak is such a dense and hardwood, that if it weren\'t for the veneers holding  the core together, the door would\'ve warped long ago.

The door also features 15 windows and 14 etched, beveled, glass lites. Unfortunately, one of the glass lites is missing. However,  we could order a new lite and install it--email us a for a quote.

This is considered a, "swinging door," because it was designed with  slightly rounded sides, and a cut-out, lower corner to accommodate a  spring-loaded, pivot hinge. The hinge allowed the door to swing back and  forth like a saloon style door. Although this was used an interior door, it  is thick and strong enough for an exterior application. The corner could  either be plugged with solid wood or the door shortened enough to remove the  cut-out, and the sides could be trimmed by about 1/4" to get them back to a  straight, flat edge. If you need the door to be a full 30" or wider, we  could add wood to the sides to widen the door. Email us for a quote.

Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door (check out our store).

Condition: On the exterior side of the door, the molding is missing around the missing glass; the top rail is cut and missing a strip of veneer; and the bottom of the lock stile is chipped.On the interior side of the door, the bottom rail and some pieces of veneer on the bottom and top of the lock stile are chipped; and a strip of veneer is missing from the top rail.

Otherwise, the door is strong, sturdy, and in great shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes--minor cosmetic blemishes, which would be removed during the finishing process or covered if painted.Quirks & Considerations: The height of the door was unevenly cut by 1/4\" at some point, most likely to accommodate an old warped floor or settling foundation. We could  cut the door to an even 82 1/4" or shorter, or even build it up if you need  the door to be taller--email us for a quote.

Refinish/Repaint: We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. See the last photo in this sale as an example of our work. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we\'ll give you a quote.

Modification: We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs.
