Kay Bojesencreated his wooden soldiers in 1940 on the occassion of King Christian's 70th birthday. He did this as a tribute to the King.At that time larger versions stood guard outside his shop in Bredgade. In 1942, owing to popular demand, Bojesencreated the smaller versions you see here.
There are five soldiers, any of which can act as flag bearer. These figures stand 8.5" tall and approximately 3" wide.The set includes two 10" Danish flags on wooden staffs that can be placed in any soldier's hand. The soldiers are made of beech wood and are hand painted a brilliant red, blue and white enamel.
