Please see more photos below:

  • An antique C18th or early C19th English Georgian period self raising lacquered brass beam balance scale for weighing gold Guineas or Sovereigns which folds away neatly in the mahogany case shown with push button release catch ( bit tricky to open). The main central support stands 2.9 in ( 74 mm) high and the mahogany case measures 5.25 in ( 133 mm) x 1.5 in ( 38 mm) x 0.65 in ( 16 mm). The case retains its original paper labels ( wear to one) with Maker Stephen Houghton & Son Ormskirk, Successors to A. Wilkin. The scales are in overall very good condition for their age with just an old chip to lid. They would make a great addition to anyones collection.
