Here is the barrel of a Springfield model 1812 musket that was made by Springfield in 1816, a scarce musket that was the bridge between the 1795 and the 1816 models but the other thing about this is that it was converted from flint to percussion for the City of Philadelphia in 1861 for Civil War use, metal is a a dark patina, about 35\" long, some pitting on the bolster. This gun, it is thought, was one of over a 1000 class 3 muskets altered by the gunsmith Andrew Wurfflein for the City of Philadelphia at the beginning of the Civil War for arming raised regiments. Andrew Wurfflein converted these muskets by cutting off the pan, removing frizzen and spring and filling those holes. He then procured from Remington some of the patent breeches and hammers like Remington had made for the Maynard tape primer 1816 musket contract a few years earlier so this lock has a Remington hammer, the barrel has the chambered breech that is stamped CITY OF PHILADELPHIA and A. WURFFLEIN (stock/lock to be listed later),or parts that is also an early Civil War used early musket. This is NOT a gun and meets requirements. Buyer pays a fixed shipping cost of $13.
