Selling this gorgeous primitive antique floral rose needlepoint. It is dated 1840 and signed the name, H. E. Fraley.
It is in fantastic condition for its age! Stunning colors in this rose bouquet. The muslin between the needlepoint and frame board has discolored. See photo.
The frame has a lot of age but unsure when it was manufactured. Not sure if the frame is original to the 1840 date, most likely early 1900s, but that is just my guess!
There are a lot of chips where the frame trim/edge has fallen out. See photo.
The needlepoint measures approximately 20” x 20”. The outer frame measures approximately 23” wide by 22” 20 x 20 22 tall by 1 3/4” deep.
On the backside of the frame, you will see that the board and needlepoint are smaller than the outer frame, there is some gapping all the way around. See photo. There are a few nails, holding it to the back, but it is not very secure. See photo.
You will also see the frame board has several nails running into the edge of the board. See photo.
This was from my friend’s ancestor who is from Washington DC area. She said that this has been in the family for generations. I am helping her sell much of her estate.
