Antique 1880s Meriden Silverplate Pickle Castor Cranberry IVT Jar Lid Tongs Nice For Sale

Up for sale is a beautiful antique late 1800\'s silverplate pickle castor and cranberry inverted thumbprint jar. The footed pickle jar is in wonderful condition with a bit of roughness and a couple of small flea bites on the rim, it has no other issues. The very fancy silver plate pickle castor is in excellent condition. It is stamped \"Made and Guaranteed By Meriden Mfg. Co\" #680. The plating is beautiful, bright and shiny and has been very well cared for all these years. There is a lot of Victorian detail going on, from the fret work on the arch to the stylized peacock tong holder, the beaded work around the base down to the four lovely entwined, scrolling legs. The lid is simple but in excellent condition, plating perfect and doesn\'t take away from the castor itself. The claw bird like tongs are brass and silverplate. The measurements of the castor are 11 inches high by 5 3/4 inches wide at the widest point. The jar stands 5 1/2 inches high with fitted lid in place and 4 3/4 inches high without lid. The small, raised foot is 2 1/2 inches in diameter which fits down into the well of the castor. This is a lovely pickle castor set and one you would be proud to own, display and use.
