Antique 1897 Sterling Silver Folding Pocket Knife - N.Y. JEWELERS BOARD OF TRADE
Beautiful, highly ornate sterling silver handled folding knife commemorating the February 8, 1897 Annual Banquet for the New York Jewelers Board Of Trade. From my brief research, I believe this was their 8th annual banquet. The knife with blade folded measures approx. 2 1/8\" in length. The sterling silver handles feature intricate embossed designs and lettering. One handle reads N.Y.JEWELERS BOARD OF TRADE. The other side reads ANNUAL BANQUET FEB. 8 97. The blade is marked GERMANY. One of the handles is marked STERLING AB.
As described in the condition description above, the single blade functions nicely, with excellent tension. The sterling handles are in great condition with their original antique patina. The clear opaque hard plastic piece at the end of the handles, sandwiched between the two handles, appears to be missing the very end of the plastic piece (please see the last photo). This in no way effects the functioning of the knife or the strikingdisplay ability of the piece. This is a gorgeous commemorative knife with a nice New York City & Jewelry Industry history.
