We have for sale this charming antique Horsman composition/cloth body doll measuring 12 inches. The doll is jointed, marked, and comes with its original clothing making it a perfect addition to any vintage dolls collection. The doll features molded hair in a medium complexion, black eyes, and gender-neutral characteristics.
This antique play doll was manufactured in the time period of 1900-1919 & appears to be of the same model that Horsman used to create the original Campbells Soup Kids dolls.
The composition head has age related crazing and a paint chip on the neck but still retains the sweet “Campbells Soup Kids” side ways glance and hair curls. Face has the Signature red dots on inner corner of eyes and the in the nostrils. There is a small Paint chip on the lower lip. The composition hands are also showing its age but all 10 fingers are accounted for with the very tip of the left thumb missing. The firmly stuffed cloth body is in amazing shape and has no rips or tears. It appears to be a sawdust stuffing.
The Body clearly displays the Horsman stamp of authenticity on the torso “Genuine Horsman Dolls”. Both cloth feet are intact. All joints move smoothly and this doll can still be posed (see photos).
This doll came dressed in a 4 piece felt costume that has been a bit moth-eaten over time. There are red pants, green tunic, red belt & green hat, all matching felt . Clothing is very fragile. After taking the clothes off for photos we are choosing to not redress this doll. We will let its’ new owner dress and enjoy this sweet antique doll. 4 very old, long, dark straight pins will be included - These pins were used to hold the tunic and pants on the body.
