This is the earliest Pelton and Crane model I have ever seen. The style is simple \"Style 10.\" And the serial number is simply # 2798. It probably belongs in a museum. This is one of the very first compressors they ever made.
The pump works, and the motor runs. I\'m sure it\'s not optimized and there quite a few condition issues. I will try to highlight some things.
Things are lose with the bolts and could be tightened up. The clearcoat over the paint, and gold paint is in poor condition. The paint itself is not in ver good condition. There is some rust, esspecially at the base. There is a crack in one of the spokes (see picture 7). You can see where a wrench has worn some of the tightening connectors. Two of the small caps are missing. It needs a proper plug and belt. I cabbaged a computer plug to test it, and I used electrical tape as a temporary belt. Please see all of the pictures and judge the condition for yourself. Because I\'m not able to find a reference picture of this model anywhere, I\'m not exactly sure if there should be a cap at the back end.
So this unit, is not for the faint of heart. However with proper care and restoration, you would have one of the very first Pelton and Crane dental air compressors, and something that would truely belong in a museum.
This was given to my grandfather in about 1950, by a retired dentist. I will insure this item and pay the $10 extra for special handling.
