This is an Antique 19th Century iron fire engine pump cover with an embossed Lion head from Goulds foundry in Seneca, New York. Sized approximately 6.5” x 6.5” and weighs approximately 5 pounds, 3 ounces. Shows the embossed GOULDS name and is numbered on the right flat #1337.
In 1848, Seabury Gould started his company in Seneca NY. He began with casting pumps . Other products known are Corn Shellers, Bells, Sad Irons, Sinks, Tools and a line of Fire Engines. They provided items during the Civil War and the Factory was destroyed by fire in 1879.
