Antique American chest with butlers desk top drawer dating back to the early 1800\'s.
This amazing piece has beautiful burled wood to the front of the drawers and acanthus carved columns on each side.
It stands on fabulous carved lion paw front feet and chunky turned back feet.
The top drawer pulls out and the front drops down to create a desk and reveal numerous drawers and cubbies.
This is a very old piece which does have its flaws. Repairs have been made to the veneer around the top edge and to areas on the front of the drawers. The large metal drawer knobs are newer replacements and the back legs are also not original to the piece. There is splitting to the top and sides due to climate change causing movement in the wood and there is some wear throughout. I have tried to show as much of this as possible in the pictures and as you can see it is still an amazing piece of old furniture with a lot of character and charm.
Over all it is in solid, sturdy condition with age appropriate flaws which are reflected in the price.
