Up for sale is a nice, very large antique Japanese Yari with the original pole and mountings. This is a very large piece and is a very nice piece of Japanese Craftsmanship.
The blade is unsigned and has the mounting hole as shown in the photos. The blade is in decent/good polish with the nice red detailing in the center of the blade. The blade has an iron skirt at its base with some cracking as shown which is purely cosmetic. Blade fits perfectly in the housing pole. Check out the photos.
The pole is intact and complete as shown in the photos. The blade has a cover that is made of a solid piece of wood. The cover is like a log and about as big as a can of tennis balls. It is aprox. 10.00” long and 2.75” wide as shown in the photos. There are some areas where the finish of the large wood sheath log that have been scuffed off as shown in photos.
The long tang is original as shown in the photos. The blade is in very good condition and is sharp. I included many pictures to review.
The blade is solid and well made.
I am not 100% sure I want to sell it so if it doesn’t sell, I have no problem keeping it :). It is a really nice high quality piece.
I included several pictures from different angles and lighting positions to show the nice overall quality and size.
The metal blade portion is aprox. 31.00” long. The blade in the pole is aprox. 55.00” in total length. I included photos of the measurements to give a good size perspective.
This Japanese Yari would make a very nice addition to anyone's high quality Japanese edged weapon collection.
