Back in 1958, Bob Thompson was a young arranger andconductor from California with the firm belief that the unexpected is exciting. If music is going to be funhe reasonedit ought to have surprises. With that inmind, he created a jazz-influenced choral-orchestral sound he could justifiablycall his own. The chorus, thanks to Thompsons astute conception, became anintegrated section of the orchestra.
This collection presents the three great albums he recordedfor RCA Victor, including a batch of choice standards and several of Thompsonsown compositions, all light-hearted and with the infectious flavor that was hissignature. You will find his music refreshing, adventuresome, spontaneous, swinging, sensuous, hip, and, above all, intelligent. It was especiallydesigned with an eye (and both ears) toward Stereo, and includes the excellentmusical contributions of some outstanding Hollywood jazz musicians.
Bobs albums are some of the finest examples of what laterbecame known as Space Age Pop records.
