First edition with the Tony Sarg illustrations of the famed wayward wooden puppet who wished to become a real boy. The book has 122 pages and a color frontispiece with illustrated title page, 7 color plates, and color illustrations throughout. The end papers are illustrated as well. The book boards are dark red cloth over boards with black lettering and designs on the cover and spine. Dust jacket has some missing pieces at top front right, top back, and lower spine, very common after 83 years. The pictures included are of the actual book being offered for sale.
