Description I was drawn to this telescope at a show several years ago because the original owner, Captain James H. Hyde, needed to use it instead of a pair of binoculars as he was blind in one eye. Included in this grouping is the telescope, a certificate of authenticity, Hyde\'s write up and picture from the Civil War Database and 24 pages of copied information from the National Archives that chronicle Hyde\'s experiences in the Civil War. I have pictured most of the pages but not all of them. There are a total of 24 14\" by 8 1/2\" pages.
Closed the telescope is about 9 1/2\' long and open about 22\" long. There are lenses in both ends but the lens closest to one\'s eye appears to be loose. Both lenses are in good condition. The outside covering is leather and it is in fair condition.
I continue to sell off my Civil War & G.A.R. collections. There are some wonderful items that need to be taken care of for future generations so drop by every once in a while.
