The plate is sensitized with Iodine and Bromine and is Mercury developed on the spot in Paris. The cover glass is reverse hand painted with the same technique as in the 19th century. The dimensions of the Daguerreotype plate are 5.1x7.1 inch. The dimensions of the cassette are 5.9x7.9 inch. On the back of the cassette you will find the Certificate of Authenticity. It is signed by the artist and the character \"K\" is stamped in sealing-wax. This character is related to 2018 (I started in 2006 with the character \"A\").
The exposure time was 13 seconds at f8

TheMagere Brug(English: Skinny Bridge) is a bridge over the riverAmstelinAmsterdam,Netherlands. It connects the banks of the river at Kerkstraat, between the Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht.

The central section of the Magere Brug is abascule bridgemade of white-painted wood. The present bridge was built in 1934. The first bridge at this site was built in 1691 as Kerkstraatbrug and had 13 arches. Because this bridge was very narrow, the locals called itmagere brug, which literally means \"skinny bridge\". In 1871 the state of the bridge was so bad that it was demolished and replaced by a nine-arched wooden bridge. Fifty years later this bridge also needed to be replaced. ArchitectPiet Kramermade several designs for a steel and stone bridge, but the city decided to replace it with a new bridge that looked the same as the previous, only slightly bigger. In 1934 the bridge was demolished and replaced by a redesign made by Piet Kramer. The last major renovation was in 1969. Until 1994 the bridge was opened by hand, but now is opened automatically.

Use of the bridge has been limited to pedestrians and cyclists since 2003. It is however opened many times a day in order to let through river traffic. The boats used for sightseeing tours are low enough to pass underneath the bridge when closed. The bridge is decorated with 1,200 light bulbs that are turned on in the evening.

A story told to tourists about the origins of the 1691 version of the bridge is that it was built by two wealthy sisters who lived on opposite sides of the Amstel river and wanted to be able to visit one another every day (and were presumably too busy, or not in good enough health, to go the long way round via another bridge, of which there must surely have been at least one). In one variant of the story the sisters, although wealthy, were not quite wealthy enough to afford a bridge of adequate width for general use and so built a very narrow bridge, hence its name. In another variant of the story the sisters\' last name was Mager, hence the bridge\'s name (rather than from its narrowness). (source: Wikipedia.org)

Nowadays only a couple of true daguerreotypist exist in the world. I am one of them. I started in 2006 after years of practicing as professional, full time daguerreotypist.Every daguerreotype is a unique piece. It is completely made by hand. No machinery is involved.
A 99,9% pure silver layer is polished by hand for several hours. Sensitized, exposed and developed. After the development it is covered with a 24 Krt gold layer to protect and gives it a warmer tint. It is sealed in a frame protected by a hand painted cover glass (silver turns black if it is exposed to air). Underneath the cover glass the Daguerreotype is separated by a paper Matt. This Daguerreotype is fully sealed in a cassette. The cassette is fully prepared according the International Conservation Standards. This is an absolute unique piece of art. No two daguerreotypes will ever be the same because they are exposed one at the time inside a camera.A daguerreotype produces a magic view. It shines like a mirror. Depending on what it reflects, for e.g. if you are standing in front of it with a white shirt, is produces a negative image (like the filmstrip you have with non digital camera\'s). If the reflection is darker you see an image like a photograph. Sometimes it is like a hologram.Because a daguerreotype is completely made by hand, small artifacts like small spots can be present. Also, due to hand polishing the silver surface small lines (grooves) are part of the process. We will carefully ship this daguerreotype (registered mail including insurance).
