Selling my David Brown 990 in \"AS IS\" condition! Must cut my restoration project short due to a death in the family. This would make a very nice project for a full restoration! I\'ve got a lot of money and man hours tied up in this tractor and am listing it for much less than I have invested.
I have been in the process since last summer of getting this into shape. I\'ve done a number of things and spent hundreds of hours on it as well as lots of money. I need to sell this right away as my 30 yr old son passed away unexpectedly and I need to raise the money to pay for his funeral.
I acquired this David Brown 990 last summer from the estate of a late farmer. According to the serial number, it is a 1965 model and looks the have the Implematic hydraulics. This was a later tractor manufactured in 1965 so from what I\'ve been told, it got the newer hood. The front end loader is an Allied 660 model and comes with the bucket. This also has a foot throttle as well as the lever on the steering column.
CONDITION DETAILS:
*This tractor starts immediately in hot or cold weather and runs nice. The fuel filters have been changed, things tuned up, belts and hoses replaced, electrical improvements, battery, etc.
*I added all the lights including the head lamps, tail lights and rear work light. I also fabricated a grill for the front. Fenders and hood have had some body work and paint.
*One rear tire was replaced and is excellent. The other three tires are fair.
*Hydraulic oil has been changed and screen filter cleaned. The hydraulics still need some air bled out but seem to function fine.
*There\'s been lots of scraping, power washing, repainting and other cosmetics done to it.
*It\'s hard to steer with a load on. There\'s a good offer of play in the steering. **That was to be my next item on the agenda had I not had to offer it for sale. This does have the power assisted steering but I don\'t know if it works or not and I haven\'t had a chance to check it out.
*The draft lever is broken off and needs welded back on. The late farmer who owned this before me used it to make hay and such the way it was utilizing the other controls. I really don\'t know how these work correctly as I haven\'t had a chance to work with them much. I just know I can raise and lower the rear bars fine and work the loader. The PTO works fine and looks to be a couple of speeds. I think a new PTO was installed by the former owner. There may be other issues but don\'t know for sure.
NOTE: I HAVE OVER $4,700 INVESTED IN THIS TRACTOR so far !!!!!!!!!!
