Digital Tube Tester ECC-T for ECC88/6DJ8/E88CC/6922/Cca:
$499.00

This digital tube tester is part of my collection for some time, very handy unit if you mainly use ECC88/6DJ8/E88CC/6922/Cca tubes (CD/DAC\'s). This is a very nice and precise tube tester.See the last three photo\'s that shows the test results ofa calibration tube from Jac Music that was rated 15.0/13.8mA vs. the 15.84/13.34mA that thisunit it showing!

E88CC/6DJ8/ECC88 series tube digital tester, model ECC-T

OPERATION MANUAL

1. Features.

With help of this digital tester, you can:

- At any time with good accuracy check the emissioncurrent of installed in your amplifier or another device E88СС, 6DJ8, EСС88 tubes of various manufacturers (Siemens,Telefunken, Mullard, Valvo, Tesla Referral, etc.) having the heater voltage 6.3 voltsand filament current of 300 - 365 milliamps, by measuring the emission current(anode current) and find out whether they require replacement.

- Check the quality of the newly purchased tubes of this series, as wellas match them in pairs in accordance with their anode current values.

- Provide an activation of tubes that have not been used for many years(Old Stock), see Fig. 1, Fig 2.

- Check the emission current of tubes which have too low emissioncurrent, before and after the rejuvenation (increasing the emission current),(see other sale “E88CC/6DJ8/ECC88 series tube rejuvenator, model ECC-R”).

The anodes current monitoring is provided with the tester in accordanceto the specifications and recommendations of the most of tube manufacturer\'s.

2. Specifications.

The tester power supply 220 volts AC (180 ÷ 240AC)

Filament voltage of tubes 6.3volts DC

Filament current 300÷ 365 mA

DC anodes voltage +90 volts

DC grids voltage -1.3volts

Measurement error of the anode current +/ - 2%

Measuring range of the anode current 0 - 20 mA

The tester is compatible with thefollowing tubes, which have the Noval N9B socket:

E88CC, E88CC/01,CCa, ECC88, E188C, E188CC, E288CC, ECC868, 6DJ8, 6922, 6922-WA, 7308, 8223,CV4108, CV4109, CV4110, CV5231, CV5354, CV5358, CV10320, CV2492, CV2493,CV8065, 6N23P, 6N23P-EB

The tester is NOT compatible with the following tubes: 7DJ8, PCC88

3. Working with the tester.

- Plug the AC adaptor into a correct household electric outlet with ACvoltage which corresponds to the tester specifications.

- Insert the tube into the socket. The LED on the adaptor should lightsteadily. If it is blinking, this is indicating that the tube is not in order (mostlikely short circuit of the electrodes inside).

- If the tube is in working condition, you will see the growing of thevalue on the digital display after a few seconds. Make sure that both thefilaments lit. Wait as long as the anode current on digital display gettingstabilized at least in the third decimal position. Set the switch to the leftposition, read the anode current value of the first (left) triode and write itdown.

- Turn the switch to the right position, read the anode current value ofthe second (right) triode and write it down too.

Note 1:

Tubes which were not used for long time (Old Stock), require a period ofactivation to get stable parameters, sometimes for a couple of hours (seefigures). Therefore, for more accuracy of the value of the anode currentdetermination, leave a tube installed in the socket of the tester for a coupleof hours, with periodic (at least onceper half of hours) putting the switch from one position to another, and onlythen read anode current values for both triodes.

Note 2:

If after inserting a tube into the socket you see zero values on thepanel for a long time while both the filaments lit, this means there is aproblem with the tube condition (mostly an electrode disconnection inside).

Note 3:

Floating the value in fourthdecimal position of the panel did not indicate a problem with a tube or thetester, it is normal, because the control of the anode current in accordancewith the recommendations of tubes manufacturers did not provide itsself-stabilization (the presence of the cathodes auto-bias).

Note 4:

If you buy Old Stock tubes, which did not undergo theprocess of activation, it should be noted that the actual value of the anode currentfor some of tubes may significantly differ from those stated by the seller. This may be important for matching the tubes in pair. Therefore it is better tobuy such tubes for which the seller declares that the value of the anode currentwas measured after providing the activation procedure.

Caution!

Do notopen device housing and adaptor. Do not use the device in a damp environment.Clean the device with a dry cloth. Unplug the adaptor from outlet beforeattempting of cleaning.
