DUG US 3\" SCHENKL SHELL FRAGMENT FROM E.CAVALRY FIELD. GETTYSBURG PA BATTLEFIELD For Sale

Up for sale is a large dug U.S. 3\" Schenkl Shell Fragment found way back in June of 1970 on the July 3, 1863 Gettysburg PA. Battlefield by Dean Thomas. \"E. CAV. 23 JUNE 70\" is written on an old piece of tape attached to the fragment. This particular fragment is the tail end of the shell including the complete base knob. I left the fragment uncleaned as found and with a little effort it would clean up quite nicely. Dean metal detected quite a bit around Gettysburg and other sites in Maryland and Northern Virginia. He meticulously documented the provenance of each relic he found. We have a small crate of battlefield relics he found back in the 1960\'s and early 1970\'s. 95% of these are from the Gettysburg PA. Battlefield area and each is marked with a piece of tape documenting the exact provenance and date of the find.
