On offer, we have an original etching by English artist Eileen Soper. Her etchings were first published in 1921 at the age of 18, but this could have been created earlier. It is in a 9 1/2\" X 10 7/8\" matte titled in pencil \"The Swing\". The etching is on cream laid paper 7 1/2\" X 10\" and pencil signed on the lower right. The image measures 5\" X 6 7/8\". About the artist: Eileen Alice Soper (1905-1990) was the daughter of well respected British artist George Soper. She became an etcher, illustrator and author. Her special subjects were children playing and, later, British wildlife. This is a wonderful example of her work.
I believe this etching is in excellent condition. It is clear, clean and bold with a deep imprint. It is attached to the matte only with tape, not laid down. The matte shows some age.As I am not an expert, please see my photographs for more description. These belongs to my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with many of his treasures. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping when possible.
