Gabriele De Vecchi (1938-2011) was an Italian designer, architect and jeweler. He was born in Milan, in the family of the leading Italian silver producer Pierro De Vecchi. Gabriele De Vecchi began his career not as a craftsman, but as a kinetic avant-garde sculptor. In 1959, together with his like-minded sculptors, he founded the artistic avant—garde in the field of kinetic and programmed art - Gruppo T. In 1962, he took over the management of his father\'s firm and established strong ties with other leading manufacturers in the field of architecture and design in Italy. He was particularly interested in the reflective properties of silver – its ability to visually disappear under certain lighting conditions or create dynamic patterns when placed in a certain environment. For most of his career, Devecki has explored this interest in perception and transformation within a restrained modernist formal idiom. He is also actively involved in program art events held by Olivetti in Italy and the USA.
