1966 FORD 428 A Scratch Motor.

Block type & date code: C6ME. 5K29

Heads are C6AE-R dates 5L1/5L2

Intake Manifold: 5L4

Perfect for a Galaxie, T-Bird, Thunderbird, F100, Highboy 4x4. Fairlane, Torino, and Mustang need to drill heads for exhaust. Super easy to do.


I plan to run this motor shortly on my engine stand. No cam break in is required on the Roller Engines. I’ll try to post a video for you. It’s truly a beautiful motor 🔥.


C6ME, 428 A Scratch Block fresh from the machine shop. Fresh 4.16 bore, baked, tumbled, and cleaned. New cam bearings & freeze plugs. All oil modifications for block and heads complete. Estimated power is 425HP with 460LBS Torque.


Original 1U 428 crankshaft went .010 on both rods and mains. I Used Clevite Main bearings and NOS Johnson Rod Bearings. Installed ARP crankshaft main studs for extra strength and all reconditioned rods have new ARP bolts.


Heads are perfect and original to the block. New intake and exhaust seats, 16 new guides, new Howard’s Cams cylinder head kit to match the Roller Camshaft. Closed seat pressure is 125, open is 400 @ 1.3. We all know these heads flow very close to the C8OE-N 428 Cobra Jet heads. Great thumb prints on both.


My camshaft selection was based on a street muscle car. This Howard’s Cam will pull hard from 1600-5800 RPMs. It has a .525 lift for both intake and exhaust but the duration is duel pattern with 272/279. Lobe centerline is 110 degrees. Engine will have a fair idle with good vacuum.

Matching Howard’s Cams Roller Lifters are installed on this engine. New Crane racing ball & cup pushrods with new Sealed Power adjustable rocker arms.


All oil modifications are complete including restricting the amount of oil to the heads. This is a must on any FE build. A new Melling M57 oil pump with new pickup tube will provide all the lubrication needed for a long life!

A rebuilt FOMOCO factory fuel pump with canister filter will supply plenty of fuel to the carburetor.

Restored Factory Carburetor was originally found on a 1968 Mustang or Cougar with manual transmission. It was completely rebuilt by Ford as their rebuilt sticker is on it. It has a decent appearance but it’s been sitting for a little while. Date code is 862 (second week of June, 1968).


All new PCV setup using factory correct system. Will have available vacuum at rear PCV fitting.


All new Felpro Gaskets will be used for this project. Fresh rebuilt FOMOCO Water Pump, alternator with brackets with belts.
