Hello, here i have a vintage vibrolux reverb amp up for sale. This amp sounds amazing and has no issues regarding operation or performance. As with all the amps from this era - it has some unknown history and some stuff has been changed through the years. Here's the stuff that i know of-The speaker baffle and grill fabric has been changed out with a nice re-production. It is the correct fabric and is real pine plywood like the originals. It fits perfectly.-One speaker has been changed out for a weber 10A150 alnico. It sounds great paired with the original cts ceramic. The two speakers sound great together - it's a real common mod for these amps. I do not have the other original cts.-The faceplate has been changed out for a reproduction. Don't know why - it was like this when i bought it.-a/c cord and plug have been changed to a grounded plug --The tube chart is not original - it's a reproduction and does not have the serial # on it.
Other than those items, i believe everything else is original to the amp. All of the transformers and the choke date to 66, the reverb transformer dates to 67. So, i would say this amp was and early 67 production - just using some transformers left from 66. The reverb tank is original, the footswitch is original. I don't see a lot of component changes - i believe that even the filter caps are original - you may want to update these caps, but i felt that i would leave that decision to the new owner.
I have used this in a home studio environment the whole time i have owned it (a little over 2 years). It always sounds great and i've never had any problems out of it. This is a great players amp in the fact that it has some non-original stuff that lowers the collector value, but all the important stuff (transformers, reverb tank, caps and resistors, etc) are un-touched leaving all the vintage mojo these amps should have. All the tubes are older ones - no new tube junk in here. I can send more photos if you would like them - just send a request with your email and i'll send the other pics i have or if you need a photo of a specific thing - just ask. I'm not an expert on black face fenders, but i have played a bunch through the years and this one i can definately say is one of the good ones. It comes with a nice studio slips dustcover. I use this with V1 tube pulled out - most guys play through the vibrato channel and pulling V1 beefs up the vibrato channel with a little more gain and "bigness" Most players that play these amps do this - but i will include a tube for V1 if you choose to use it. If you have any other questions about the amp - just ask. I will be more than happy to answer any question i can. I am selling this only because we are trying to sell our house and purchase a home with more studio space and i'm selling some gear to raise cash for a down payment. I hate to let this one go, but later on if i can find another - i would definately buy another one. The tremolo and reverb are worth the price of admission alone - no new amp i've ever played through has the soul of the blackface amps. It's a great amp to own and has been a great tool for me in my studio - quite often - it's the perfect thing. Thanks for looking. This will be packed very well and fully insured - it's heavy - that's why the shipping is high. i'm starting the sale at 850 and i think i'll just let it run - you are welcome to make an offer - if i like the offer - i will send a buy it now through to you. Thanks, Harvey.
