This is medium-sized (15 x 12) original pastel (chalk) painting of an Indian boy. The wooden frame has coloring which matches the colors in the picture. It is quite beautiful up close. It is signed “Christofferson”, for Gerda Christofferson. She made the picture in the 1950’s when she worked at Glacier National Park. Gerda was born in Norway, and then her family moved to Canada. As an adult, she moved to the United States. She is famous for her paintings of Indian children.Gerda Christoffersen created the original style of the \"Papoose Paintings\", of which this is one, and is uninfluenced by any art trend or form. She painted the covers for the Maryknoll Magazinefor 1956 representing twelve different children of the world in her well known \"Papoose Style\". Collectors own works by Gerda Christoffersen in Europe, Australia, Africa, India, Canada, South America and the United States.
