Not too common Gibson USA made CL-30 Special steel string acoustic.Double bound solid bubinga back & sides sitka spruce top. Rounded mustache-style bridge, multi-ring abalone rosette, and tortoise pickguard. Under saddle factory pick up. Nitro finish looks fantastic!
A full bodied dreadnought with a magnificent voice and poignant projection. The natural resonance on this guitar is phenomenal.These were made in 1997-8 only. The special well it\'s special!Solid bubinga back & sides and solid sitka spruce top.These specials I am told were made usingsome artistic freedom from the makers for instance this one has a solid one piece Bubinga back and it is slightly arched. Not common because most CL-30\'s of any model had two piece back with a stripe and not arched. There is a stripe on the neck also not found usually. The arched back I believe adds the extra power and projection of this guitar. Bubinga is known for brighter overall tone and more projection. This is a bite into the music guitar that also when played softly has a mellow side, it sounds great finger-style, picked or strummed.
I played this next to brand new Gibson $5,000+ guitars and this one had more projection and character than any of those. Granted this is partly due to it\'s mature wood but still those $5k guitars sounded less alive in many ways than this one. It has matured beautifully. I would say it is penetrating with a full spectrum of sound excellent bass and balanced mid with clean and colorful treble. Even tone all around. This is my own musical opinion but other people have commented similar things.
Really attractive balone florette inlays and a matching abalone rosette, nice binding, this guitar looks as great as it sounds! Nitro finish seems incredible for 21 year old guitar looks new, low action and plays like a dream.
Great shape with just some light wear throughout. There are various very light scratches, couple minor dings, tiny nicks, along with some wearing of the gold on the hardware. The bridge pin for the low-E string is unoriginal, and there is some slight lifting on the top edge of the pickguard.

Semi-chunky rounded maple neck neck with walnut center stripe. Aged white side dots and abalone florette inlays. Rosewood fingerboard is in great shape and frets show light wear.
1 11/16” nut width, 24 3/4\" scale length. Grover hi-ratio tuners work great. Neck is straight and truss rod is functional.
Electronics:Mounted under-saddle pickup with 1/4\" endpin output jack.
Case:Original hard shell case included.
