We pride ourselves at Oakapple Designsas having permission to take moulds directly from the medieval carvings found uponthe misericords and choir stalls from within the Cathedrals and Churches in theUK. Our moulds and production techniques capture and reproduce all the finedetail from the original carvings to produce a very high-quality piece with allthe authenticity from the original carving.
This carving is found within the choir stalls of thebeautiful church of St.Chad’s. this carving shows the pagan image of the GreenMan, in this depiction he has the classic attributes of green foliage butunlike most this does not originate from the mouth. This one shows foliage inthe form of a a hood around the head and then forms two ornate swirlsunderneath his head to form the distinctive and unique form. The Green Man isthe pagan symbol of the regeneration of life from birth to death and to the nextgeneration. This is one of the most interesting and beautiful depictions thatwe have taken from the Cathedrals and Churches of England. Designed to be wallmounted this makes a very distinctive and attractive focal point when ondisplay. Comes with a hanging fixture and product label.
