Here is a beautiful antique Hawkes & Son (before merging with Boosey) silver-plated cornet made in Piccadilly Circus, London around the 1880\'s-1890\'s. It does not have a serial number. The parts numbers of the valve casing are 7, 8, and 9. The earliest known serial numbers for Hawkes & Son instruments began with the number 11,177 in 1895. Therefore, one must assume that any instrument without a number must have been made prior to this time. This particular instruments is a well-cared for horn that plays with a very nice tone. It is in great condition. All valves and slides move freely. The plating is in great condition with very little wear. It does have some small dings/dents/imperfections and general signs of use. This horn has bits to play in A and B-flat, 2 mouthpieces, a lyre and a very short mouthpiece receiver bit. It comes in the original case, which has been altered over the years in attempt to correct some damage. Please see photos for more details and thanks for your interest!
