Damage orshortage must be noted at the time of delivery on the delivery receipt.Theconsignee must check the outside of crates, packages, pallet etc… for dents,scrapes on boxes, cracks or anything on the outside of the packaging and note“damage/shortage” or “box crushed” etc on the delivery receipt. This willhelp to insure a goodclaim.
The delivery receipt isfor the purpose of recording the facts at the time of delivery and certifiesthat the freight was received in good order unless exceptions were noted. It isthe consignee’s responsibility to check the freight and note on the deliveryreceipt any damages to the shipment.Withno such exceptions noted apparently there was no question concerning thecondition of the freight when it was delivered.
