This is one flat top Orchestral Bells,Special by J. C. Deagan. Made in Chicago, circa 1910-1916. Model # 1530. Serial# 26417. All steel keys (bars) are hand crafted for tone and a special platingapplied so as not to interfere with the quality of the sound. Bar size = 1.125”wide by .375” thick. Octives= 2.5,Range= G-C. Low pitch. Each key does produce a tone.
Wear on some keys noted. Thereare 3 leather straps that hold the wood support rod. One is missing. This rodsupports the keys when the lid is closed. The rod still supports the keys forthis purpose. The wood case is intact with some cosmetic damage and scratches as shown. The leathercarrying strap is missing. The lock works, but I do not have a key. Also includes 4 mallets, 2 hard and 2 soft. Notice one end is frayed on one mallet.
Hopefully, I’ve done my duediligence in describing this 100+ year-old piece of musical history. I don\'t claim to be an expert on this instrument, so what you see is what you get.
The photo flash exaggerates the scratches and wear on the keys.
Weighs about 35 pounds, so postagemay be a bit pricey in some parts of the country. I’m offering several postageoptions for this purpose.
