I recently acquired a Jaguar enthusiast’s collection of owners manuals. Mixed in the lot was this NOS Jaguar 3.8L Series I manual. While most Series I collectors know that all 1st printed 3.8L manuals were identified by part #E/122/ and were numbered printings from 1 to 6, but this version is the last of the real British Leyland issued books printed manuals, versionE/122/7 dated 1/1970. This is an outstanding original un-issued manual, unlike the reprints that are done on a copier. This authentic printing was done on an offset press, like the 1st printings. This printing also was assembled with elongated staples, like the 1st printings (where as modern day staples are shorter in length). Unlike the 1st printings of this manual, the matching numbered E Type 3.8L lube chart is done in black-n-white rather than the tri-colored with red. That said, the lube chart is dated January 1970 and is correctly number with E/122/7. These 2nd printings were done in small limited quantities and are extremely rare today.
Note: this is not one of those modern off-shore copies, but a 52 year old second printing by British Leyland.
