SHIPPING: I hate shipping charges (both as a seller and a buyer)but you can’t get negotiate them unless you have BIG volume, which Idon’t. I don’t intend to make money, orlose money, on shipping. I use USPSPriority Mail flat-rate boxes, especially for anything heavy, because it’sfaster for me and usually cheaper for you. They include tracking and $50 of insurance, and the package gets therequickly. If something is more valuable,I’ll pay the extra insurance myself. Forbooks and other things that qualify, I favor media mail to save money. For small stuff that’s hard to break, I usepadded envelopes and first class mail.If something is too big for flat rate, or so light that I’d be wastingyour money on flat rate, I do my best.(I increase the USPS flat rate charges by ~10%, to $8, $15, and $21,because charges me 10% of postage, too! Why?? I’ve complained, and got nowhere. But since I’m selling without minimum or reserve, I figure I shouldn’tlose money on shipping.) Because I haveto put the shipping charge on the listing, and I live in New England so thatmost of my shipments will tend to travel a long way, I quote for shipping to Omahaso that I usually don’t lose money. If you live closer to me than that, takethe trouble to compare my charge with the actual postage. If you paid more than a dollar extra, pleasesend me a note and I’ll cheerfully refund the excess to PayPal. I don’t shipoutside the USA.
