Lexington baby grand player piano withSimplex/Recordo player mechanism. Based on serial number, the pianowas made in 1920\'s. The Lexington Piano Company was establishedaround the turn of the century and made pianos for nearly fourdecades. The company came under the control of Hallet & Davis andthe National Piano Manufacturing Company.
The Recordo mechanism works withstandard 88 note rolls, but when Recordo rolls are used, the volume ismodulated to provide softer or louder notes as the roll dictates. When playing a standard roll, you can use the pneumatic controls tosoften either treble or bass notes, and there is a crescendo lever.Metronome lever sets the tempo, and there is an auto re-roll feature. All of this is done by air power and a series of pneumaticbellows, linkages, and valves.
Player mechanism is in a slide-outdrawer and very easy to service. Major restoration was done in the 1980\'s –all new tubing, Simplex pneumatics removed and re-covered, with newhinges, secondary pneumatic leather pouches, and leather outer valvefacings. Needs an electric suction box and a good cleaning. Workedwell until suction box motor went out, but being sold as-is. I\'ll include the box, but the motor is bad. The piano itself is going on 100 years old, and may need a little TLC.
