This is a beautiful vintage 1960\'s mid-century modern pottery tile of a Viking ship scene by Lisa Larsen Gustavsberg Sweden. It is signed Lisa L. Gustavsberg in the lower right corner of the thick tile (see pics). The tile is very well executed. It measures just shy of 9\" x 8 and 3/4\" square with a thickness of about 1/2\". The glaze colors are a nice gloss array of gold, yellow, brown, cream, and a dark green/blue border. The Viking ship, mast, and Viking figures are well done and intermixed with great mid-century designs and shapes. It is equipped on the back with a hanger and two rubber bumper stoppers for wall protection to be hung. It would look great in anyone\'s Lisa Larsen or mid-century modern pottery or tile collections. No maker\'s marks other than on the front right bottom area. The condition overall is nice no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs on the front design/tile portion. A hanger was added to the back by a previous owner or came this way and there are 2 small chips on the bottom side of each hanger to the left and right (each was probably done in order to secure the hanger in place). They do not go through the tile/pottery piece. One is about 1/2\" x 3/4\" (see pic) and the other is just shy of 1/2\" x just shy of 1/2\" (see pic). For accuracy sake, there is also what appears to be a fissure or firing crack on the back top middle area about 3/8th\'s of an inch long (see pic). This is located directly above the hanging device area. This also does not go through the tile so therefore I would not consider this a hairline or crack. Don\'t miss out on this great piece to add to your collection. Please ask any questions before offerding. I have another of these and framed it that is something else you can do with it.
